On June 12th, 2019, Swiss watchmaker RJ and three Michelin Stars Chef Alvin Leung had organized a tasty surprise for exclusive guests in Hong Kong. What better way to discover RJ’s latest creative collection inspired by space than through flavorsome food? Providing a special culinary experience for all the attendees, Marco Tedeschi, CEO and Creative Director of RJ, saw this collaboration with Chef Alvin Leung as an unprecedented opportunity to connect horology, space and the culinary world.
To celebrate space exploration, which has been a mystery for mankind for centuries, RJ had invited exclusive guests to discover its latest watch collection. Fifty years after the first successful moon landing on July 20, 1969, Swiss watchmaker RJ pays tribute to the Apollo 11 astronauts who first walked on the lunar surface, with the ARRAW 6919 collection.
The ARRAW 6919 contains authentic Apollo 11 spacecraft material that landed on the moon. It features RJ’s first in-house moon phase movement, that displays a three-dimensional moon rotating 360º. From the moon to the wrist, the RJ ARRAW will inspire wonder for anyone who is fascinated by science, mechanics, and the vast universe of space.
Alongside the ARRAW 6919, RJ also designed its first ARRAW for women inspired by the depth of space. The 39mm RJ STAR TWIST represents four distinct deep space objects with each color being limited to only 100 pieces.
RJ collaborated with “Demon Chef” Alvin Leung to launch the new collection at his Hong Kong Michelin 3-Star restaurant, Bo Innovation. Guests were not only given the opportunity to handle the ARRAW 6919 and the RJ STAR TWIST, but also to enjoy a mouth-watering menu designed by Alvin Leung himself featuring dishes inspired by RJ and the stars. Each dish represents Chef Leung’s interpretation of the new RJ watches and captures historical moments such as man’s first steps on the moon onto the plates of the guests. The colors of the ever-changing constellations also played a key role in Chef Leung’s vibrant culinary creations.
